How to blend Style Personality with Colour Type

Like any exciting journey, there aren’t hard-set rules to a Colour Analysis. Rather, it gives you guidance and discovery. Why? Quite simply, we’re all individuals. There needs to be room for our individual personalities to shine, and for our colour palettes to blend into our lifestyle.

 What is Classic style personality?

Classic style

Let's take the Classic style personality as an example. Classic is generally defined as people who:

  • tend to choose neutral colours, shying away from most colours of the rainbow
  • prefer to be more under-stated and not to draw too much attention to themselves
  • like the simplicity and class of neutrals
  • might find that bright colours make them feel uncomfortable

Classic clothing often leans towards structured looks, and smooth low-textured fabrics. Neutrals are heavily featured in a Classic look. Some Classic dressers prefer to wear the same shade of neutral head to toe, whilst others like to mix up their neutrals.

Classic style personality can also be revealed in personality traits! Some descriptions of a Classic personality type include organised, professional, mature, responsible, sensible, conservative, reliable, trustworthy.

How does style personality work with different colour types?

Zesty colour palette

Let’s use the Zesty colour palette as an example. If you are Zesty as defined by our Absolute Colour System you’re therefore best suited to warm and bright colours. But if you are a Classic style personality, how could this work

The two important elements to focus on are Structure and Neutrals

  • Structure: Focus on the structure of the pieces you wear, while keeping them within your colour palette. Think tailored pieces and low-texture fabrics in your own recommended colours and neutrals.
  • Neutrals: Your colour palette will also be supported by neutrals – which is important to a Classic style personality. Neutrals are generally the colours that don’t appear in the colour wheel: black, whites, greys, and browns. Over time, some additional colours have been added like khaki, navy, camel, and tan. These are called ‘coloured neutrals’.

 What style personality are you?

Other personality styles include Creative, Classic, Relaxed, Rebellious, Social, Feminine, Masculine, Unisex, and Boho. It’s something you’ll learn more about when you get a Colour Analysis and start on a style journey.

For some style personality inspiration, check out these Shopboards based on well-known personalities like Stevie Nicks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Julia Bishop – three very different style personalities!

Once you uncover your style personality and learn how it can work with your colour type, your outfits will start to feel like they really represent the genuine you.

I look forward to helping you discover your style personality!
